Where LA homes sold fastest this spring
The typical single-family home in LA County went under contract in about five and a half weeks. In some South Bay zip codes it took closer to two.
If you're thinking about selling before a move, one of the first questions is how long it will take. Here's what Redfin's public data shows for single-family homes across LA County zip codes from March through May 2026, the most recent period Redfin has published.
The big picture
Across the 193 LA County zip codes with at least 15 single-family sales in that window, the middle zip code had a median of about 38 days on market. More than half of those zip codes, 123 of them, averaged a sale price at or above the final list price.
The ten fastest zip codes
| Zip | Area | Median days on market | Median sale price | Avg sale-to-list |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 90503 | Torrance | 16 | $1.47M | 101.6% |
| 91722 | Covina | 17 | $780K | 101.3% |
| 90505 | Torrance | 18 | $1.61M | 101.9% |
| 90254 | Hermosa Beach | 22 | $3.0M | 100.6% |
| 90650 | Norwalk | 22 | $765K | 102.2% |
| 91108 | San Marino | 23 | $3.11M | 105.1% |
| 90277 | Redondo Beach | 24 | $2.53M | 101.3% |
| 90504 | Torrance | 24 | $1.05M | 102.3% |
| 90230 | Culver City | 24 | $1.48M | 103.7% |
| 90604 | Whittier | 24 | $865K | 101.3% |
What stands out is the range of price points. Fast sales weren't limited to one end of the market: Covina and Norwalk moved as quickly as Hermosa Beach and San Marino.
Where homes took longer
The slowest zip codes were mostly at the high end, where there are fewer buyers at each price and listings often need more time and more precise pricing. Malibu (90265) had a median of about 157 days, and parts of the Hollywood Hills and Bel Air (90069, 90068, 90077) ran roughly 85 to 110 days.
What this means if you're planning a move
- Days on market is a median. Half the homes in a zip sold faster, half slower. Pricing, condition and presentation move an individual home a lot.
- Add escrow time. Days on market usually measures time to an accepted offer. Closing commonly takes another 30 days or so, though it can be shorter or longer.
- Spring numbers aren't fall numbers. Activity tends to shift with the season, so use these as a reference point, not a forecast.
